Melanie studied Photojournalism and Chinese (fluent in Cantonese) at Boston University. She is on the Board of Directors for The Humanology Project, a non-profit organization aimed at destigmatizing mental and neurological illness through real life accounts.


She works as a freelance photographer, videographer, and reporter. Her clients include NBC Asian America, Rise Media, Clinton Global Initiative, Dia&Co., New York Partnerships for Parks, Harvard Gazette, Gothamist, and several smaller publications. She is also a contributor at Apartment Therapy.


She interned at Harvard University, at the Massachusetts State House for former Governor Deval Patrick, and was the photo editor for the BU News Service. She lives in Brooklyn with her boyfriend and baby cat.
